Hello friends and fans. I am sad to report that I was recently in a situation that was as close to infringement as I ever want to get. I’m a member of an amazing group on Facebook where we learn and share ideas about Acrylic pouring. I decided to try to do a series of 4 season clocks similar to one of my first acrylic pour paintings of Fall leaves looking up from the forest floor.
I posted the summer trees circle in the group and was excited with the responses. Only to wake in the am to find a message telling me that another artist had posted my painting alongside hers stating that “she must be a good artist cos someone tried to copy her work”.
Well not only did I not copy her art, but if there were a forgery it would be hers. I had actually never heard of her before this accusation The fact that she posted my work, disrespectfully I might add, gives me much room for legal revenge.
I will say that I do not have intention to pursue any revenge at this time. But would appreciate an apology.
For all artists who follow my blog I hope you see this as a warning keep your eyes pealed some artists may not be as respectful of others as you are. Copyright infringement can come in different ways. Not just a copying but posting your work without permission and proceeding to falsely accuse is a big No No in the art world.
Hope you enjoy my summer forest looking up painting. And if you would like to attempt to create one similar I would love to share some tips.
Please share if you have ever encountered a similar issue. Have an Awesome Day!
By posting your work first, and having it computer dated, in that way you have proof that yours was first. I hope this worked out for you. I don’t have a FB account anymore and have also deleted my Instagram account. I do blog, that is going to have to be enough. I found FB to be worse than a high school cafeteria full of mean kids for causing bad feelings in people.
Yes it can be. I am in a couple awesome groups. There are kids that don’t play well together where ever you go tho 🤪. It did work itself out thanks
So true…glad it was solved.
