When I first started acrylic pouring someone showed me how to do the “tree ring” pour. I had to try one for myself and this was my results. It was kinda plain for my liking, but I just didn’t know what to put on it. I was thinking about painting a fish or a turtle but I felt like they had been over done. So I kept looking for animals in the water and this sweet little otter cried out to be painted.
I have always loved painting animals but was kinda fearful of trying to paint on top of my pour. Thankfully I have been following a group of amazing artists on Facebook, and with much encouragement I felt more confident in my approach. This little guy just wanted to be painted. Now I cant wait to embellish some more. And believe me there are more. Acrylic pouring is sort of addictive, you can’t get enough.
One hint I was thankful to learn is, if you want to paint on top of your acrylics you can apply a protective coating which will keep the under painting from washing away when you paint your embellishment.
Hope you enjoy this little guy. I sure enjoyed painting him and cant wait to try more.
The fluid painting process is so much fun. I get really excited just seeing how the paints will perform. It is a gift to be able to share my experience with those who have interest in the medium. This process to me opens many possibilities. It is my goal to use the premixed paints and create more than just chance results. So far we are seeing many who have taken acrylic pouring as a new trend to play with paint. I have seen many beautiful paintings. But I am confident that there are many more creations that can be made using this awesome paint formula.
In this painting I have combined several techniques, but I feel it is only the tip of the iceberg. I have done swipe paintings that keep the exciting “cells” created in a pour. Giving a unique abstract feel to the final art work.
If you love this new process as I do please take the time to follow this link to my youtube channel “Straw Blown Field of Flowers” and see the processes I used to get these results.

We need to feel our own happy experience. Allow the stress to be on the back burner. Enjoy the freedom of not being in control. This form of painting has allowed that for me. I hope you will follow along with me and maybe find your freedom. Allow yourself to let go and see what will happen.
It is the weekend here and now for me. So I’m gonna make this a quick post, an encouragement to all Be HAPPY!
